This article analyzes television censorship during the period of the Brazilian military regime, pointing to the existence of various types of censorship used in different television genres. These differences in criteria and mechanisms when it comes to censoring television reveal the tense encounter between the production logic of the television industry and the military regime's vision of television as an instrument of social control and a vehicle for the education of the masses Based on the extensive documentation found in the files of the Divisão de Censura e Divertimento Público (DCDP), this article aims to reconstruct the network of power relations, complicities and tensions that affected television production during the period of the Brazilian military regime.
