Abstract
The non-abelian self-interactions of closed cosmic strings, carrying SU(N)/ZN electric charges and magnetic fluxes, are analyzed. Following the Nielsen-Olesen geometrical approach, the world sheet of such a loop is non-trivially embedded in R4 × CPN-1. The string evolution is then governed by a generalized Weierstrass potential exhibiting discretely degenerate minima. The corresponding soliton solutions are dynamically non-contractible both in real and internal spaces.
