Modeling neuron firing pattern using a two state Markov chain

Abstract

We study a possible model for neuron firing pattern as a two state Markov chain. We compare the qualitative predications of the model with various types of neural measurements available in the literature. It is shown that this model explains well several phenomena observed in different sensory systems of mammals.
