Abstract
Several typical situations which are unfavorable for second-order direction finding methods are known to be easily overcome by means of higher-order algorithms. At the same time, in many typical situations unfavorable for higher-order methods, second-order algorithms perform well. Appropriately combining the covariance and cumulant based techniques into a single scheme, we obtain an algorithm with improved robustness. Below, we propose two different modifications of such combined technique referred to as mixed-order root-MUSIC.
