Abstract

From early on in his career, Pekeris became interested in integral equations, as they that arises in the context of seismology. Eventually he solved many important problems related with integral equations, often in collaboration with Zipora Alterman. They developed orginal methods for dealing with the Boltzmann-Hilbert equation for describing the behavior of gases.
