About the vacuum of scalar field theory in anti-de Sitter space

Abstract

It is shown that in a system of self-interacting scalar fields in anti-de Sitter space, there exist for a certain range of parameters two separate vacua: one is symmetric and the other is not. These two vacua are stable against both small oscillations and semi-classical tunneling.
