Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Our study explores a master’s Visual Arts program course, co-taught by an environmental educator and a literary scholar. This interdisciplinary course integrates the arts, environment, and society, employing eco-humanistic and holistic educational principles. The research’s aim is to explore how combining art and sustainability equips learners with tools for teaching about the environmental crisis. We examined how the course’s structure, educational approaches, and learning settings are evident in the 24 students’ products, using qualitative methods. Findings indicate that the combination of Ecohumanism and holism enhanced students’ creativity and understanding of climate change and social justice, and encouraged them to act.
