המאמר קושר בין טראומת המלחמה לבין טראומת גירוש הפלסטינים מכפריהם ב-1948 וכיצד הן משתקפות בסרטים ישראלים כגון 'ואלס עם בשיר','חרבת חזעה' (רם לוי 1978), 'משחקים בחורף' ואחרים, כמו גם ב'סיפור חרבת חזעה' (1949) מאת ס. יזהר ובספרו של עמוס קינן 'בלוק 23'.
