ملخص
This chapter explores how confirmation bias affects judgment and decision-making in forensic contexts, particularly in detecting deception. It demonstrates that all stages of criminal investigations and every lie-detection method, including verbal ones, are susceptible to both cognitive and behavioral confirmation biases. While managing cognitive biases is sometimes achievable, behavioral bias remains a greater challenge. This chapter emphasizes the importance of raising awareness among forensic experts, police officers, and judges, along with providing basic training to help minimize the influence of biases on forensic decisions.
