Axiomática y álgebra estructural en la obra de David Hilbert

The present article discusses David Hilbert's contributions to the theory of algebraic invariants, to the theory of algebraic number fields, and to the study of the foundations of geometry. The discussion shows that, although Hilbert advanced many of the central elements that would eventually form the basis of the new, structural approach to algebra, he himself never adopted such an approach, nor suggested that it would be convenient to adopt it in algebraic research.
